The Friends welcomes new Chief Executive, Martyn Reeves

change last year and was just waiting for the right position to come up. Fate lent a hand when I saw The Friends’ advert in my local paper - the more I read about The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice the more I liked and was impressed with what The Friends have achieved since 1984. I have always had a soft spot for Hospices after my father in law (and close friend) was lucky enough to use the services of one locally. He had not been well for a while and I thought that once The Hospice team got involved all of his care became “joined up” and his treatment was of such an amazingly high standard. As relatives we also had the same level of care and respect offered to us at a potentially difficult time.
I am honoured to have been chosen to join the enthusiastic and dedicated team here and have thoroughly enjoyed my first month. My job will be to lead the fundraising team, to increase the fundraising capabilities and to raise the profile of The Friends in the Medway and Swale areas. I have a business background having worked within and then taking over my own family’s business. I see the relationship here at The Wisdom Hospice between The Friends and The Hospice as one of a large family or as the title suggests that of Friends. The atmosphere here is very positive and I will endeavour to bring the skills I have picked up during my business career to the benefit of others that are touched by The Wisdom Hospice.
Finally may I thank all of you for the outstanding generosity that you show towards The Friends and the Hospice you should be very proud of the fantastic facility that you have in your area. The Wisdom Hospice does an exceptional job and The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice are here to support their work and where possible help them improve the high standards of care and services that are offered. May I wish you a very happy and healthy 2012.
